The GK is the most critical last line of defense and therefore many play this position with fear of making a mistake - playing handicapped with a self-limited mindset. On the other end, an over-confident goalkeeper often takes unnecessary risks which will lose the confidence & trust from their teammates. Striking the right balance of confidence and competence allows a goalkeeper to play intelligently fearless, which allows for sound decision making. To achieve this balance, a goalkeeper must first understand themselves; their illusory self-limited beliefs and physical range before they can master themselves on the field.
